Family visa

Issued abroad to a family member of an Algerian national
The following documents are required:
1. Visa application form (Click down to download) duly completed (electronic only/not handwritten), printed, dated, and signed;
2. A recent identity photo (35 millimeters wide by 45 millimeters high);
3. Passport valid for at least 6 months, accompanied by a photocopy of the first two pages;
4. Proof of the Algerian nationality of the spouse: consular registration card or, failing that, Algerian biometric passport or Algerian biometric identity card + photocopy.
5. Proof of family relationship with the Algerian national:
Photocopy of the Algerian marriage certificate or a family record book or the Algerian family booklet. If the marriage was celebrated abroad and has not yet been transcribed at a diplomatic or consular representation, a full copy (and not an excerpt) of the marriage certificate must be provided (Huwelijksakte and not Uittreksel uit huwelijksakte) / consult the section: "Civil Status/ Transcription of Marriage Certificates" for more information;
6. Accommodation certificate** accompanied by a photocopy of the Algerian host's identity document or a copy of proof of residence in Algeria in the name of the visa applicant's spouse (property deed or electricity, gas, or water bill);
7. A travel insurance certificate in the name of the applicant***.
Visa fees are only payable by credit card at the Embassy (they vary depending on nationality, age, passport type, duration of travel and number of entries). Visa fees are not refunded in the event of cancellation of the visa application by the applicant, whatever the reason, and also in the event of refusal to issue the visa by the Embassy;
Very important:
- If the Algerian spouse is not registered with the consular services of the Embassy or does not reside in the Netherlands, proof of residence in the Netherlands valid for less than three months must be provided by the visa applicant.
- For visa applicants who do not hold a Dutch passport, proof of legal residence in the Netherlands must be provided through:
• For citizens of countries exempt from the requirement to obtain a residence permit in the Netherlands: a basis registration certificate (BRP) (Basisregistratie Personen) issued by the municipality of residence, dated no more than six months ago;
• For other nationalities not mentioned above: A valid residence permit must be submitted at the time of application and on the expected visa expiration date.

- **The accommodation certificate must include the host's name, surname, date and place of birth, as well as the details of their identity document, their address, and phone number, in addition to the name, surname, date and place of birth of the hosted foreigner, and their passport details. The signature must be certified by the municipality of residence and should have been done within the last three months.
-*** The travel insurance certificate must mention Algeria as the destination country and include a minimum of 30,000 euros in coverage for medical expenses and repatriation in case of accident, illness, and repatriation of remains in case of death. This certificate must cover the entire validity period of the visa. Only unlimited insurances are accepted for family visas with a validity period exceeding one year. Insurance certificates can be obtained from your insurance company, your bank, or a travel agency;
- The embassy reserves the right to request any document not mentioned in the above list, and any additional information it deems necessary to process the visa application, in writing, by email, or by phone.
-Incomplete applications and those that do not meet the requirements will not be accepted or processed.
